Digital agency launches a configurator application as a benchmark for industries of all kinds.
Hamburg, November 30, 2015 – Virtual Reality is all the rage – but few applications so far offer intuitive experiences and high user value. The agency Demodern is already one step ahead: With loftshift, a virtual product catalog, the digital specialists are launching a sophisticated VR application. With the highest visual quality and intuitive operation, the user becomes the designer of their space and can experience products in a completely new way before purchase.
Using a VR headset, the setup of a virtual room can be explored and designed. Additionally, the user can retrieve information about various furnishings. By tapping on the headset's touch panel, not only can the room's design be intuitively changed: the user can choose between different room and lighting moods and experience the products directly in the space.
For the photorealistic look and maximum configuration freedom, Demodern relies on high-end 3D renderings. The sophisticated technology enables an unprecedented product and shopping experience. "Our goal was to develop the first market-ready configurator in VR that fully convinces in visual design and performance. The user is truly part of the experience and the designer of the virtual environment. The advantage of such an immersive application becomes particularly evident in product configuration. What previously took place in the imagination now becomes a real experience," says Alexander El-Meligi, Managing Partner at Demodern.
The VR model loftshift can be applied to a wide range of industries. Applications for fashion, automotive, retail, interior, or other luxury brands and products are conceivable. "Our aim is to create exclusively relevant applications for brands and their consumers with VR," emphasizes Alexander El-Meligi.
Demodern realized loftshift together with 747 Studios as a prototype for designer and architect Peter Fehrentz. The digital specialists developed the VR application from the idea and concept through creative development and interface design to the implementation of UX and interaction. For visual design and CGI, the digital specialists collaborated with 747 Studios from Hamburg.
