Gears 5, the helicopter simulation "Comanche," the space simulation "Kerbal Space Program," or the unusual but visually stunning open-world adventure "Death Stranding" - world premiere after world premiere flashed across the big video screen. The trailers announcing and promoting the new, increasingly realistic games are now as elaborate as those for major movies.

Indie Village - Indie Games are becoming increasingly popular
From the first public day, enthusiastic fans celebrated the fascination of computer games, among other things, in the newly opened event arena. Different companies, including Gameloft, ESL, Riot Games, and Telekom, presented spectacular tournaments daily, providing unprecedented eSports diversity. "Indies," one of this year's trending topics, found a new home in the gamescom indie village. More than 150 games from 140 developers from over 30 countries offered more indie games than ever before, making the trend topic tangible for the numerous fans on-site.

Cloud Gaming à la Netflix
Besides new games, one of the prevailing topics of this gamescom was the so-called "Cloud Gaming." Games no longer run on your own console or computer but on external servers, and the customer subscribes - similar to how Spotify or Netflix operate.

Fully in series fever
No wonder then that Netflix was present at gamescom with its own booth, where you could physically experience the original productions "Dark," "Stranger Things," and "Money Heist," along with matching games for the series. Since we are huge fans of binge-watching in addition to games, we could really indulge ourselves there.
