IFDesignAward2017forOurIKEAVirtualRealityShowroom

There are many reasons to celebrate, and that should definitely not change! Recently, we had a new, quite good one. Our IKEA Virtual Reality Showroom was awarded this year's IF Design Award in the Communication discipline. Whoop!
Since November, the IKEA store in Berlin-Lichtenberg has been offering visitors the "Virtual Home Experience," a virtual space where products can be interactively experienced in various lighting moods and interior styles. The VR installation is a prototype that is being intensively tested, evaluated, and expanded. Already, the application offers added value during shopping through a variety of interaction possibilities: As soon as visitors put on one of the three permanently installed Oculus Rift CV1 headsets, they can interactively design a living room—from the wall color and lighting mood to the Billy bookcase and sofa cover, many components are configurable. A specially developed 3D sound rounds off the immersive experience.
