WithloftshiftatSXSW2016

Every spring, SXSW sets the trends and wannabe trends of the digital world. In 2016, it was clear that Virtual Reality would definitely belong to the former. The technology had already been a hot topic the previous year, dominating every digital event. It was therefore unsurprising that the breadth of ideas and applications was reflected in an endless number of presentations, events, and panels. The application loftshift, released last year by Demodern and 747studios, was also present in Austin.

While we were busy developing new use cases and applications for VR, our friends at the MSL Group (Publicis) presented the interactive room configurator in their VR workshop as a best case. "How does it play?" - this question was discussed by Robert Scoble (Scobleizer), Mitch Gelman (Vice President Product, Gannett Digital / USA Today), Jon Hackett (Director of Emerging Technologies Nurun), and Jeff Melton (Senior Vice President, Technology, MSL Group). Subsequently, various devices and VR applications were put to the test by the international expert audience. loftshift once again received great feedback - and not just as a way to escape the conference room for a moment.
In February, Jeff Melton and his team visited Hamburg to see loftshift and other Virtual Reality ideas from the Demodern team, and the cooperation at SXSW was agreed upon - to be continued.
