Sample Lab makes materials tangible.

The trade fair should not end after the fair.
At K 16, Covestro's innovative strength should become visible, and the trade fair contact should be transformed into a long-term brand experience. The app should engage visitors on-site, spark curiosity, and continue to serve as an inspiring source of information even after the fair.
The solution needed to reach both B2B and B2C users while running technically robust on iOS and Android.
The goal was a sustainable, multisensory brand experience.

An app with a lookbook and playground connects facts with inspiration.
The Sample Lab app combines a lookbook with compact material information and a playground with six fictional worlds that make properties and applications playfully tangible. We delivered pixel-perfect UI, custom photos, 3D models, and implementation for iOS and Android.

In the lookbook, users find concise information on material properties and applications, while in the playground, interactive creations arise through tapping and shaking, stimulating personal creativity and conveying material functions sensually.

Results show sustainable interest.
More than 3,000 interactions during the fair and an average session duration of around four minutes document high engagement; the qualitative feedback from visitors and the Covestro team highlighted the inspiring effect and the clear communication of technical content.

The process followed Discover, Prototype, Build, and Launch in close collaboration with the Covestro team. Core mechanics such as pixel-perfect interaction, simple gesture control, and the integration of 3D assets made material properties immediately experienceable and created the crucial 'Aha' moment for the user.
