For the 50th anniversary, the brand was to not only tell a story but also become an experience: the challenge was to create a digital experience that preserves the authenticity of the pen-on-paper feeling while motivating many users to engage genuinely. Success was measured by contribution frequency, dwell time, and active use by illustrators.

The Wall of Fame is an interactive web canvas with limited pens, invited guest artists, sticker and sharing features, as well as a system that saves and moderates every stroke. The area automatically expands as sections fill up, allowing many small contributions to gradually form a huge, cohesive artwork.

In four phases — Discover, Prototype, Build, Launch — the drawing engine, the pen-limiting interface, and a reliable system that saves each line individually were developed. Core mechanics such as no undo, limited pens, automatic area expansion, as well as moderation, stickers, and sharing ensured that the experience remained authentic, safe, and consistently exciting.

Key insights were that intentionally set limitations create value, curated contributions elevate the quality, and direct visibility of processes increases participation. Technically, a robust stroke-by-stroke saving system proved effective, as it enables moderation, live replays, and new creative usage forms.
