For the 25th anniversary, a digital art studio was created that brings Kojima's style to life.
We honored 25 years of Metal Gear Solid with a serious tool.
For the anniversary, we developed a professional online drawing tool in collaboration with Konami and the official art team, which replicates Hideo Kojima's illustration style and provides fans and concept artists with a high-quality working environment.

The project was meant to be more than a fleeting campaign.
The art studio is more than an anniversary gimmick; it was designed as a permanent platform that takes artists seriously and remains usable with professional tools in the long term.

A core component was the combination of powerful drawing tools, a gallery for concept art, and mechanics for community challenges, allowing users to share and rediscover their work.
We meticulously reconstructed Kojima's tools.
Based on scans and process descriptions, we modeled ink flow, paper textures, and color palettes so that brush strokes and material effects credibly reflect Kojima's handwriting.

Design decisions fostered targeted creativity among artists.
Limited drawing surfaces, instant feedback, and a subtle used texture ensured that users could achieve maximum impact with minimal strokes, making the platform feel professional.

The gallery structure and regular challenges promoted community engagement and enabled the Konami art team to curate submissions and highlight outstanding works.
All artworks were saved as vector data with timestamps, allowing the creation process to be replayed as a time-lapse, enabling users to trace and share their workflow.
The result is a lasting platform that connects artists and makes the Kojima aesthetic tangible.
The art studio was conceived as a permanent platform rather than a short-term campaign.
Platform features such as the robust drawing engine, gallery-relevant metadata, and curated competitions established the art studio as a sustainable offering for the community and Konami's art team.
Delivery scope: a detailed drawing engine, vector storage with playback, an expandable gallery, and moderation and challenge workflows for Konami.
The delivery included a drawing engine, gallery, and community mechanics in an integrated system.
Learnings: Scarcity and curated formats increased quality and attention.
The limitation of parallel surfaces, visible community participation, and the immediate playback of the creation process proved to be effective levers for artistic quality and sustainable engagement.
