Children discover Swiss nature in a playful way.

A native 3D app connects a collectible album with exploration.
For Migros, we developed the Nature Detectives app for iOS and Android, which introduces children aged 8 to 11 to their local nature through puzzles, mini-games, and a detailed 3D world. The app complemented the promotion 'Nature Detectives Mania' and links physical stickers with digital adventures.
Migros wanted to provide real value to the promotion: instead of just a sales campaign, curiosity about local nature should grow and the time children spend engaging should increase. Success was measured by active sessions, collected badges, and positive feedback from parents.
Spark curiosity instead of just selling.

What we delivered: an interactive habitat explorer.
The app features eight lifelike habitats with at least seven camera perspectives per world, two protagonists plus a mini-inspector, 64 mini-games, collectible badges, and sticker scanning as a unlocking mechanism. Over 1,000 custom-designed sounds and trilingual voice-overs create a rich, child-friendly experience.

Young users explore habitats from multiple angles, solve puzzles, and collect badges. Game progress is unlocked through real stickers, turning shopping in-store directly into digital exploration and providing children with new incentives to return.

The stickers act as physical keys: parents collect stickers in Migros stores and scan them in the app to unlock new habitats. Once 15 stickers per habitat are scanned, the next adventure begins. The recognition runs via Vuforia and is quick and intuitive for children.
Stickers become digital keys.
Game worlds with attention to detail.
Each level was created from photos, expert advice, and rapid prototypes. With Blender pre-builds, targeted Unity workflows, and a specially developed editor extension, we were able to precisely control interactive elements, spawn points, and difficulty levels while working on multiple levels simultaneously to deliver high quality in a short time.
In a clear process from Discover to Prototype and Build to Launch, we combined expert knowledge, photos, and quick tests to shape realistic habitats. The pipeline and editor tools were crucial to guarantee high quality despite tight timelines; the key learning was to limit complexity early and test iteratively.
Iterative work ensured quality despite tight timelines.

The app makes collecting a gateway to real nature experiences.
