Which technologies power the AI assistant?
The assistant runs on Azure and can be operated with various AI models depending on the use case. The FastAPI backend structure ensures fast processing, while the React frontend provides a modern and seamless user experience. The Qdrant vector search finds content not just by keywords but by meaning. A three-tier cache further accelerates access, so responses are delivered in real time even under heavy load.
Where are data stored and processed?
All data is processed and stored within the EU – specifically in German Azure data centres. By using Azure Private Endpoints, sensitive data never leaves the internal network. Companies retain full control over their data sovereignty, as no information is shared with third parties.
Is the system GDPR-compliant?
Yes. The system has been designed from the ground up to meet GDPR requirements. All data is processed exclusively in Europe, there is no sharing with third parties, and the architecture ensures complete data sovereignty. On request, we also support data protection impact assessments and integration into existing compliance processes.
How is incorrect or irrelevant content prevented from being shown?
The assistant is based on a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) approach, where answers are generated exclusively from a verified, company-owned knowledge base. In addition, prompt engineering, relevance scoring and configurable thresholds ensure that only appropriate content is delivered. Hallucinations are minimised through strict binding to verified sources.
Can the system search multiple knowledge sources?
Yes. The assistant can access various data sources simultaneously – such as internal wikis, PDF documents, product catalogues or FAQs. The Qdrant-based vector search recognises semantic connections across all sources and delivers context-aware answers that bring together relevant information from different areas.
Does the assistant work offline or without internet?
In the standard configuration, the assistant requires an internet connection as the AI models operate in the cloud. However, for special security requirements, a complete on-premises deployment is also possible, where all components run in the company's own data centre – including locally hosted language models.
Can we update content ourselves?
Yes. The assistant features an admin dashboard through which authorised personnel can independently add, edit or remove content – without technical expertise. New documents or texts are automatically indexed and become available for queries within a short time.
How is the system secured, monitored and maintained?
Security and stability are at the heart of the architecture. The system is continuously monitored via monitoring tools, supports automatic scaling during peak loads and can be secured with role-based access. Regular updates of models and the knowledge base ensure the assistant always remains up-to-date and performant.
Can we individually control access and roles?
Yes. The system supports role-based access control (RBAC), allowing precise definition of which user groups may access which content or functions. Integration into existing identity management systems (e.g. Azure AD) is also possible.
